There Are Many Tools to Quit Smoking

By Robert Craft

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. Once one starts smoking, quitting can be an almost impossible task, and one that takes much time, determination, and knowledge. It can be one of the best things you ever do for yourself, and something you should strongly consider, but, you are the only one that can commit to doing this, it's not something that someone else can make you do. There are many tools you can use to over come this addiction.

Many people have had great success using hypnosis to stop smoking. This strategy is one treatment that can help you develop the strength to get rid of the nasty habit once and for all. Being hypnotized can, in theory, help you remove the need and desire to smoke, which can help you break the habit of picking up the cigarettes every time you feel you need one. However, this technique will not work for everybody, as everyone is not open to being hypnotized.

There are also many medicinal methods that can help you quit smoking. These include but are not limited to; nicotine patches, nicotine inhalers, herbal nasal sprays, herbal pills, acupuncture, laser therapy, and prescription medicines. Regardless of which ones you choose, the main use for all of these is to curb the cravings of your body to nicotine.

Smoking is also a mental addiction, and one that will quickly become part of your normal routine. You will discover that, at least in the first 2 to 3 weeks, you constantly need to do something with your hands. You can use many different tools, including subliminal messages, to help you overcome these mental and physical addictions.

Like other tools and techniques that you use to help to quit smoking, subliminal messages do not do the work for you. You must want to stop smoking, and do everything that you can to resist the temptation to smoke even if you are using subliminal messages as a technique to help you to stop smoking.

Commonly, many people still hold the misconception that subliminal messages are a form of mind control that can make you follow suggestions without your wanting to do so. The truth is that subliminal messages are simply suggestions that are subconscious, so that you are better prepared to deal with temptation when it does strike.

Quite honestly, the best suggestions are actually conscious, not subconscious. Try putting a pack of gum where you used to put your cigarette pack, taking a piece of the gum and savoring the flavor of that instead of a cigarette. Keep toothpicks, pens, pencils or something similar around to hold in your hands when the urge arises. Just be sure to not start chewing the pens or pencils, as that is another hard habit to break.

The biggest thing to remember when deciding what tools and techniques to use when you are going to quit smoking, is just do anything. Smoking is one of the deadliest, dirtiest, foul smelling, habit anyone can have. There is a nearly 100% chance that it will kill you, one way or another, if you continue. Smoking obviously causes cancer, but also high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, brain aneurysms, and many other ailments. Bottom line is just quit, by any means necessary.
